The minute a boy is born, the world expects him to be a man! Even crying over a pimple is usually seen at with raised eyebrows, that us women, usually freak out about and empty tubes of facial creams over. No wonder all the face torture that a man faces from his birth till mid-age, is usually not given enough attention to. From the numerous cheek pulls, pokes, close shaves and face burns to some well-deserved slaps and glass doors. A man has to survive through all this without whining or making even slight complains. I never thought how difficult it could be to be a man, until Dove Men+Care came up with this campaign all about men. This ad for Dove Men+Care facial products features a middle-aged man and narrates his sorry story of face torture throughout his life. It is time to stand up against face tortures and…

Advertising for a product does not always mean hiring models with sparking smiles, photogenic faces and sharp voices, or putting up huge billboards across the city with your company’s logo printed all over. IBM came up with a brilliant ambient advertising campaign that takes regular advertising a step further, making it not only effective but also useful for everyone. This ambient advertising campaign by IBM was really about doing good for the community. Setting up benches, stairway ramps and shelters around the city only by adding simple extensions to outdoor properties. The video shows how the campaign worked and made a difference for everyone. No wonder, sometimes little increments can add a lot of value and make a big difference!

New Yorkers love the park. After a day of work, it always feels great to sit on the rusty old park benches, have a little snack and sip some coffee as you take a break from your everyday stress of office life. Virgin Atlantic decided to make your everyday routine of relaxing on a park bench a little special through a recent guerrilla campaign in New York. They placed a special red bench in the middle of a park, and as soon as people sat on the bench, they were treated to an experience of traveling with Virgin Atlantic, along with a few extra treats. I wish I could relax and be served with a glass of fresh orange juice right now. Sigh!

Speaking about some great guerrilla campaigns, IKEA came up with a great campaign in 2010 to celebrate the 30th birthday of one of their signature bookshelf, BILLY. IKEA, set up a series of bookshelves on the sands of the famous Bondi beach in Australia, making the world’s largest outdoor library. Through this outdoor library, IKEA gathered a huge crowd at the famous Australian beach, of not just swimmers, surfers and holidayers, but readers as well! This outdoor library offered beachgoers thousands of books to choose from, as they picked one for themselves and exchanged it with another book they had, or made a gold coin donation. All this money went to the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation. Therefore, this guerrilla campaign not only promoted the healthy habit of reading among the Australians, but also contributed for a great cause.

The latest Katy Perry video for her single ‘Roar,’ stars her iPhone and the WhatsApp chat application more than her face. Actually, there is not even a single glimpse of her face throughout the video. So, most of you Katy Perry fans might get a little disappointed. However, I am sure, the WhatsApp Inc does not seem to mind, as the application has received the longest screen presence throughout the video than anything else, and that too without paying a single penny for the endorsement! Katy Perry takes a dump while texting her song to her mates, later sheds a few calories at the gym, still WhatsApp-ing and then takes a ride around the city, still texting through the same application! Next time I hear a shouting for using my cell phone too much, I think I need to show off this Katy Perry video to prove that I am…

M&M’s Red is in love. And he would do anything for his ladylove, from carrying her shopping bags behind her as she goes on a shopping spree, to painting her nails and letting her do his hair. It’s all good till being a slave for your lady love, (of course we like that), but what if your ladylove wants to skin you, bake you in the oven to serve you as a topping on her whipped cream cake, and wants to gobble you up with a cookie? If that’s not enough, she even wants you get inside a piñata! Yikes, poor Red’s ladylove certainly has a little of cannibal instincts. See how Red sings a song full of sorrow and emotion, yet makes a point that he would not let his love torture him in anyway. I guess we all are tempted.

Cookie or Cream? What is your favourite part of Oreo? I say cookie! Hey, don’t bash me up for that, it really is the cookie that makes Oreo different from its competitors! I know the cream is great too, but it is the cookie that makes the win! Sounds familiar, right? That is exactly how most of the Oreo fights start until they get loud, and ugly. But ever wondered if you’re having a similar argument in a library, where you cannot raise your voice, how is it likely to end up like? Watch this funny commercial by Oreo for the Super Bowl. Two young guys sitting in a library, start debating over the best part of Oreo, till everyone joins in, but of course no one raises their voice – they’re in a library after all! The fight takes a nasty turn as book shelves are knocked over, tables…

Jell-O recently released an ad featuring a balding middle-aged man, along with his young son, both enjoying the sweet, chocolatey taste of of JELL-O pudding with a hearty conversation. The ad moves on as the man narrates the miseries of life to his young son that includes waking up with lesser hair, driving through a road full of traffic, and getting his project cancelled that he had been working on for a year. But after going through so much, a spoonful of JELL-O makes the man realize that all the bad in world can never outweigh the good. What absolutely gave a win to the simple concept of this ad was the crazy imagination of the son, placing himself at his dad’s place with an unfortunate comb-over. You might want to grab a packet of Jell-O to forget your worries for a while too!
